B.K. Borison’s bestselling 2025 novel First-Time Caller is officially being adapted into a feature film. The announcement has sparked excitement across the romance community, with many readers thrilled to see a beloved contemporary love story heading to the big screen.
First-Time Caller was released a year ago, in February 2025, and it went on to become one of the biggest romance releases last year. Its sequel, And Now, Back To You, was released a couple of days ago, and a third book is scheduled for release next year.
B.K Borison has become one of today’s most popular romance authors, earning a devoted following and gaining wide recognition with her Lovelight series, a set of cozy, emotional romances that quickly rose to bestseller lists.
She has continued to build momentum with novels that appeal to both traditional rom-com lovers and modern romance readers.
Her novel First-Time Caller is the first installment in her Heartstrings series, which draws inspiration from classic ’90s romantic comedies while feeling fresh and contemporary on the page. The book hit the New York Times bestseller lists and became a standout title in 2025.
What makes the First-Time Caller movie adaptation especially appealing is its balance of comfort and modern relevance; it is a timeless love story wrapped inside a media-driven, digital landscape.
What Will Be The Plot of the First-Time Caller Movie?
The novel’s story centers on Aiden Valentine, a charismatic Baltimore radio host who runs a late-night romance hotline. Ironically, Aiden has lost faith in love despite his on-air persona devoted to helping others get it right.
The story takes an unexpected turn when Aiden receives a strange call from a young girl seeking romance advice for her mother, Lucie Stone. That heartfelt moment goes viral, suddenly placing Lucie under the public spotlight and putting Aiden in the position of helping a woman he had no intention of loving.
From there, an off-air romance begins to develop.
The adaptation promises to bring out both the emotional sweetness and the comedic energy that made the novel so beloved.
If you haven’t read the book yet, which the adaptation will be based on, check out its official synopsis below:
Aiden Valentine has a secret: he’s fallen out of love with love. And as the host of Baltimore’s romance hotline, that’s a bit of a problem. But when a young girl calls in to the station asking for dating advice for her mom, the interview goes viral, thrusting Aiden and Heartstrings into the limelight.
Lucie Stone thought she was doing just fine. She has a good job, an incredible family, and a smart, slightly devious kid. But when all of Baltimore is suddenly scrutinizing her love life—or lack thereof—she begins to question if she’s as happy as she thought. Maybe a little more romance wouldn’t be such a bad thing.
Everyone wants Lucie to find her happy ending, even the handsome, temperamental man calling the shots. But when sparks start to fly behind the scenes, Lucie must make the final call between the radio-sponsored happily ever after or the man in the headphones next to her.
