Heartstopper Books in Order:
1. Heartstopper: Volume 1 (2018)
Welcome to the first volume of the popular webcomic, Heartstopper! In this first volume, we are introduced to Charlie Spring, who is currently in year 10 at Truham Grammar School for Boys. He is openly gay and has been bullied in the past, so life hasn’t exactly been easy for him.
The other half of this pair is Nick Nelson, a year 11 student at the same school who plays on the rugby team. After they end up sitting together one day, Charlie and Nick become fast friends. It doesn’t take long for Charlie to fall for Nick’s charms, but he refuses to say anything because what’s the point? Charlie isn’t going to be into someone like him in a million years.
Besides, he is pretty sure Nick isn’t even into guys.
2. Heartstopper: Volume 2 (2019)
In the first volume of Heartstopper, Nick and Charlie meet for the first time despite having been in the same school for years. They were aware of each other but had never spoken until that one fateful day. Now Charlie and Nick are closer than ever, and it’s safe to say they have become best friends.
Charlie is a gay teenager at their school, and Nick is straight. Never does Nick ever seem uncomfortable with Charlie’s sexuality. Besides Nick’s sexuality, this is also something Charlie is aware of.
However, the more time Nick spends around Charlie, the more he learns about himself. One of those things happens to be that Nick might not be as straight as he thought he was, and his feelings for Charlie may veer into the romantic side.
3. Heartstopper: Volume 3 (2020)
The third volume of Heartstopper marks a change in Charlie and Nick’s relationship. These two boys are now officially boyfriends and on their way to Paris for a school trip. They are excited to spend time with each other, but outside of the school trip, there are some other issues.
While Charlie has been out of the closet for a while, Nick hasn’t. He’s recently come out to his mother but has yet to come out to his older brother and other family members. However, if there is anyone who understands coming out to family and friends, it’s Charlie. It’s a slow-going process and entirely depends on the person.
Despite this uncertainty, Charlie and Nick continue to grow even closer. If one can believe it, they fall even more in love with each other.
4. Heartstopper: Volume 4 (2021)
Here we are at volume four in the Heartstopper books in order list, where Charlie and Nick’s relationship is as strong as ever. The two are starting to get quite serious… so serious that Charlie feels ready to tell Nick that he loves him. Luckily for Charlie, the feeling is mutual. Nick also feels the same about Charlie and wants to say those three words as well.
However, not everything is perfect. Not only does Nick have to figure out how to come out to his father, but he’s also worried about Charlie. His boyfriend has been acting strange lately. When he puts all the signs together, Nick starts to worry that Charlie might have an eating disorder.
High school and the teenage years are not easy to deal with. Nick and Charlie are not immune to these problems, but together they can solve anything.
5. Heartstopper: Volume 5 (Expected 2023)
As the saying goes, all good things come to an end, and the Heartstopper series is no different. Volume five of the popular graphic novel Heartstopper will be the final volume in the series. The journey of Charlie, Nick, and their friends will finally come to an end, and what a journey it was!
In the beginning, Charlie and Nick met, forming a strong friendship. It didn’t take long for Charlie to realize he had feelings for Nick, but he resigned himself to it being one-sided because Nick was straight. Or so he thought. It turns out Nick had the same feelings for Charlie that Charlie had for him.
Once it becomes clear the feelings are mutual, the two start dating. It’s not easy, and they have to deal with coming out along with personal issues such as Charlie’s eating disorder.
Volume five will see Charlie and Nick’s journey come full circle, and we’re all ready for it.
Other Heartstopper Books:

Have you ever heard of a crossover? In Heartstopper: Become Human, Alice Oseman gives us a crossover we didn’t even know we wanted! This graphic novel shows Nick and Charlie plopped into the Detroit: Become Human Universe. Charlie is a human detective, and Nick is his android police partner.
The plot of this graphic novel is based heavily on Detroit: Become Human, a video game that came out in 2018. In this game, robots live alongside humans as their servants. During the course of the game, you play as three robots named Marcus, Kara, and Conner. Depending on your choices, you could end up freeing the robots from their servitude to humans by the end of the game.
We see Charlie and Nick step into the shoes of Conner and Hank, two of the most popular characters in the game. Is it any wonder Alice Oseman chose them?

Other Alice Oseman Books in Order of Release:
1. Solitaire (2014)
Welcome to the debut novel of Alice Oseman, written when she was just at the tender age of seventeen. This novel tells the story of Tori Spring, a young teenage girl who is a year 12 student. She has quite a negative personality and isn’t great at cultivating relationships. It doesn’t matter what kind of relationship it is. Eventually, Tori will destroy it just like she destroys everything else.
When a local prankster group starts causing trouble around the neighborhood, Tori ends up helping Michael Holden, a year 13 student who is investigating the group. Tori is reluctant to get involved with anyone but ends up helping Michael despite her reservations.
Alice Oseman’s popular characters Nick and Charlie were originally a part of this novel, so anyone who has read Heartstopper first will find it quite the treat.
2. Nick and Charlie (2015) – A Novella
Nick and Charlie, a novella, jumps right into Nick and Charlie’s future. At least something that could highly likely happen to the two of them. They’ve been dating a while now, but their biggest challenge as a couple happens when Nick leaves for university. Charlie is a year behind him, so he won’t be able to join Nick for months!
To add to the stress of the situation, all their friends and family are wondering if they will stay together or break up before Nick goes to university. They try not to let those questions bother them because they have no intention of breaking up. If anyone can make a long-distance relationship work, it’s Nick and Charlie… right?
Only time will tell if Nick and Charlie’s relationship will be able to withstand distance and prove everyone around them wrong.
3. This Winter (2015) – A Novella
This Winter, a novella by Alice Oseman, focuses on Tori and Charlie Spring. Tori is the main character of Solitaire, where she ends up working alongside Michael Holden, her eventual boyfriend. She is a blunt teenager and seems to not care about anyone. This couldn’t be further from the truth. What Tori suffers from is just a pessimistic attitude.
Charlie is the younger brother of Tori and one of the main characters in the Heartstopper series. He is a sensitive teenager who has been bullied after being outed as gay. This causes him to suffer from several mental health issues.
These two Spring siblings are front and center in this novella. It takes place the winter before Solitaire takes place. Tori and Charlie’s perspective is the focus of this book, and through it, we get to see what makes these two tick and how strong they are.
4. Radio Silence (2016)
Meet Frances, a teenage girl whose entire life is dedicated to studying. No, seriously, all her time and attention is devoted to studying. How else will she make something of herself if she doesn’t work hard? Her life is pretty well planned out, but when Frances meets Aled Last, a straight-A student at her school, things start to get strange.
The two end up starting a podcast together. It surprised everyone around them because they expected Aled and Frances would start dating or something because of their similar interests… and the fact that they are the opposite sex. Isn’t that what you are supposed to do, anyway?
Somehow, the two teenagers manage to form a bond. Frances starts to feel amazingly comfortable with him. However, this bond is severed when trust issues come about. She withdraws, unsure of what she wants.
5. I Was Born for This (2018)
Fandom is a community of fans. There exist fandoms in video games, comic books, television shows, and, yes, even music. Angel Rahimi is one such person who is in the music fandom. She is in love with The Ark, a pop-rock group consisting of three teenage boys. Her entire life seems to revolve around them. It gets to the point where Angel can’t imagine her life without The Ark’s music.
Jimmy Kaga-Ricci is also someone whose life revolves around The Ark. However, it’s a little different from Angel because Jimmy is the frontman of The Ark and an actual member of the popular pop-rock band.
The two couldn’t be from more different worlds, but somehow, they end up in each other’s lives. What happens next takes everyone by surprise, but that’s how life is. It’s surprising, unexpected, and something we can’t easily predict.
6. Loveless (2020)
Loveless is the most recent novel published by Alice Oseman. It focuses on Georgia, who realizes she is a little different from most teenagers. She realizes that she has never had a crush on anyone. Boy, girl, nonbinary… no one. What Georgia prefers is romantic fiction, which she has no problem getting into.
Despite this, Georgia expects to figure out what she likes once she begins university. She has her best friends, Pip and Jason, by her side, so she isn’t alone. Throw in a new roommate she has a good relationship with, and Georgia is certain she’ll be able to figure it out.
However, the more Georgia tries to do stuff, the less everything seems to work out. It’s only when she discovers that the words “asexual” and “aromantic” exist that Georgia realizes that maybe she isn’t broken at all. There is a phrase to describe what she feels.
College is a great time to figure this out, and luckily for Georgia, she won’t be doing it alone.
