Based on her comment on one of her Instagram posts, the author revealed plans to take a vacation with her kids. She deserves the break because she’s written and published three books in a very short time.
She had already announced that she was looking forward to taking a break and slowing down once she was done with Onyx Storm. Since the duration between Fourth Wing and Iron Flame was unusually short, as these books were released within six months of each other, it took a toll on her body.
And even though she took a much more relaxed approach with Onyx Storm’s schedule, it was still much more hectic than she initially anticipated.
So, in her interview with Elle, the author revealed her plans to take a vacation after Onyx Storm’s release!
Once Rebecca Yarros is done with her much-needed vacation with her family, she’s planning to write a contemporary romance novel. Once she finishes that, she will begin writing Fourth Wing book 4!
With that in mind, Onyx Storm’s sequel will take quite a while to finish. The author has already revealed her intention of taking a much more relaxed approach with the fourth book to make sure it’s not a mentally and physically taxing time like during her previous books.
Considering that Rebecca Yarros takes a year or more to write the fourth book, we can expect her to finish it and have the book ready for a late 2026 release or an early 2027 release.
And this is as fast as the author can proceed without compromising her health. So, I guess this schedule is absolutely perfect!
What Is the Title of the Fourth Wing Book 4?
The official title of Book 4 has not yet been revealed, as neither the publisher nor the author has made any official announcement.
Rebecca Yarros has mentioned that she comes up with the book’s title while she’s writing it. Since she has yet to begin writing the novel, she hasn’t come up with the title yet!
So far, each title in the series—Fourth Wing, Iron Flame, and Onyx Storm—follows a two-word format evoking elemental or combat imagery. We can expect the upcoming Empyrean book also to follow this format.

And she’s also assured fans that unless something happens to her, she doesn’t plan on letting the TV series get ahead of her books and create a Game of Thrones-like situation.
