The Spark of the Everflame TV series is officially giving romantasy fans another reason to keep their eyes on Hulu.

Penn Cole’s bestselling fantasy romance, the first book in The Kindred’s Curse Saga, is being developed for television under the title “Everflame.” For a series built on forbidden power, brutal class divides, slow-burn tension, and a heroine stepping into a world that wants to control her, the small screen honestly feels like the right place for it.

Spark of the Everflame is not a quiet fantasy. It has gods, mortals, political unrest, mysterious heirs, and the kind of romantic tension that BookTok tends to devour whole.

The adaptation is currently in development at Hulu, with 20th Television behind the project. Heidi Cole McAdams, known for The 100 and Death and Other Details, is attached as writer and showrunner, while Penn Cole is also involved as a producer.

So what will Everflame be about? Here is what we know so far.

What Will Everflame Series Be About?

Everflame will begin with Spark of the Everflame, the first book in Penn Cole’s series. The story follows Diem Bellator, a mortal woman living in a world ruled by the Descended, the powerful and cruel offspring of gods.

Diem’s life changes when her mother disappears, leaving behind questions that pull her into a dangerous world of royalty, secrets, rebellion, and magic. What starts as a personal search quickly becomes something much larger, especially as Diem finds herself caught between a mortal uprising and the mysterious royal heir watching her far too closely.

Because this is being developed as a TV series, Everflame has more room to let the world breathe. That means the show could spend time building Emarion, exploring the Descended, and letting Diem’s relationships unfold gradually.

Still, fans should expect some changes. Timelines may be tightened, certain side characters could be adjusted, and some book moments may be rearranged to make the story work better episode by episode.

If you have not read the book yet, check out the official synopsis below, as Everflame will most likely begin with Spark of the Everflame, the first book in Penn Cole’s epic fantasy romance series.

When old secrets catch fire, everything will burn.

In a mortal world colonized by the gods and ruled over by the Descended, their cruel offspring, Diem Bellator yearns to escape the insular life of her poor village.

Her mother’s sudden disappearance—and the discovery of a dangerous secret about her past—offer Diem an unexpected opportunity to enter the dark world of Descended royalty and unlock the web of mysteries her mother left behind.

With the dying King’s handsome, mysterious heir watching her every move, and a ruthless mortal alliance recruiting her to join the growing civil war, Diem will have to navigate the unwritten rules of love, power, and politics in order to save her family—and all of mortalkind.

Spark of the Everflame TV Series Cast:

No cast has been announced for Everflame yet, so the biggest roles are still wide open. Fans will obviously be watching closely for who plays Diem Bellator, since the entire story depends on her mix of stubbornness, vulnerability, curiosity, and fire.

The other major casting question is Luther Corbois, the handsome and mysterious heir whose presence shapes much of the tension around Diem. This is the kind of role that will need more than just fantasy-prince energy. Luther has to feel dangerous, controlled, magnetic, and emotionally complicated enough to carry a slow-burn dynamic across a full season.

Behind the scenes, the project is in development at Hulu with 20th Television. Heidi Cole McAdams is attached as writer and showrunner, and Penn Cole is involved as a producer. For now, there is no confirmed director, full writers’ room announcement, or production cast list.

When Is Everflame Coming Out?

Everflame does not have an official release date yet. The series is still in development, so Hulu hasn’t announced a premiere window, trailer, filming schedule, or production start date.

That may be frustrating for readers who already want to see Diem’s world on screen, but it also means the adaptation is still taking shape. For a romantasy series with this much lore, tension, and fan expectation, a careful development process is probably a good sign.

For now, Everflame remains one of the most exciting romantasy adaptations to watch, especially for readers waiting to see whether Diem’s spark can become something even bigger on screen.
