From Blood and Ash TV series has been announced, and it will only be a matter of time before we get to watch it! It is another book series set to make it to the small screen, like the Fourth Wing TV series, which was announced some time back.
This is a fantasy romance series by Jennifer L. Armentrout containing 5 books at the moment, with book 6 and book 7 announced. The first book in the series, titled From Blood and Ash, was written in 2020, and book number 5, titled A Soul of Ash and Blood, came out in 2023.
The book series is about a young woman named Poppy who is a “Maiden,” a person who is never to be touched, looked upon, or spoken to. She wants to fight against the evil forces who took her parents away from her, but that choice is not hers; all she can do is wait for her “Ascension.”
This series was written by Jennifer L. Armentrout, a prolific author who has written several other series; most of her books have reached number one on the New York Times Best Sellers list.
There is another series titled Flesh and Fire, set in the same world as the Blood and Ash series, and it serves as a prequel!
Apart from these two series, the author has also worked on series like Covenant, Titan, Lux, Dark Elements, The Harbinger, and more. There are a few standalone novels, but Jennifer L. Armentrout seems to enjoy writing a series.
It just so happens that her series From Blood and Ash is going to be the one that will be made into a TV series. In this article, we’ll cover everything there is to know about the current status of this upcoming TV adaptation!
What is From Blood and Ash Book About?
The Blood and Ash series is an ongoing book series with 5 published books. In the first book, titled From Blood and Ash, we meet Poppy, who is a Maiden waiting for Ascension, something she doesn’t want.
She wants to fight with the guards against those who took her family. However, her fate changes when she gets involved with Hawke, a guard who is supposed to protect her. As a maiden, Poppy has to live a solitary life with no contact with others, but the presence of Hawke makes her forget everything she believes in.
Throughout the series, she and Hawke go through quite a lot in this captivating example of a fantasy romance series.
However, the series isn’t just about romance, as a lot is happening in the world; many events are connected to Poppy, and whether she likes it or not, she will play a much more significant role in shaping the future.
As this is a book series and not a standalone novel, it was the right decision to adapt it into a TV series and not a movie. With multiple episodes per season, the TV series would be able to flesh out the characters more and provide a more comprehensive story without breaking away from the elements that made the books a worldwide phenomenon.
Is From Blood and Ash TV Series Release Date Announced?
On March 9, 2023, it was announced that From Blood and Ash would get a TV series adaptation. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series will be developed by Amazon Studios, and they also have confirmed a writer who will adapt the book series into a script for the TV show.
So, given that it’s been less than a year since the adaptation was announced, it’s safe to say that there isn’t any new update regarding the development. As such, we don’t have a release date for the TV series!
A movie takes a long time to make, but an entire series can take a lot longer. They need to figure out how many episodes the season will have and write a script for every one of them.
Based on this fact, you shouldn’t expect a release date for the series to be announced anytime soon.
What is From Blood and Ash TV Series Cast?
As we said above, it’s just been announced that there will be a series based on the From Blood and Ash book series, so the casting process hasn’t even begun yet, let alone being announced. Many things need to be done in the pre-production stages, so the casting will have to wait while the essential things get sorted out.
This doesn’t mean fans can’t engage in some fan-casting, and fans have already started talking about the actors and actresses who should play the main characters. It’s unlikely these actors or actresses will be cast for the role, but it doesn’t mean it isn’t fun to engage in!
However, I am not going to talk about the fan-casting and wait for the official announcement when more details are available.
Who is Developing From Blood and Ash TV Series?
According to Looper, Amazon Studios got the rights to the From Blood and Ash series adaptation, and writer-producer Anne Cofell Saunders will develop the script.
While you might not recognize Anne Cofell Saunders, she has worked on some prolific series throughout her career. She’s worked on popular shows like 24, Battlestar Galactica, Smallville, Timeless, and The Boys, among others.
Since she previously worked on an Amazon show, it makes sense that Amazon would trust her to work on the From Blood and Ash TV series.
She’s worked on previous sci-fi and fantasy-esque shows, so hopefully, she can take this book series to the small screen.
Plus, Amazon Studios is also aiming big with adaptations as it already has The Wheel of Time and The Rings of Power TV adaptations. So, here’s hoping Amazon Studios doesn’t cut corners while filming the series and gives us the story that fans have come to love and hopefully create new fans when the adaptation airs.
Conclusion
As the From Blood and Ash TV series was announced only a while back, it will be some time before we find out the exact release date.
Fans must be patient because it is still in the early stages of development. There is also the possibility that this project could fall through, which happens with these things for various reasons. So, let’s hope that the series doesn’t get shelved and we get to watch Jennifer L. Armentrout’s world come to life on our screens.
Till we wait for the From Blood and Ash TV series, it would be a good idea to re-read the books or start reading them if you haven’t done so already. It will be an excellent way to revisit the world and be ready for the TV adaptation!
