The book follows two talented sisters, Cassie and Zoe, who rose to fame as a pop-rock duo in the early 2000s. Unfortunately, they mysteriously break up and remain estranged for twenty years.
However, the arrival of the next generation forces them to set aside their sibling rivalry. Sadly, it is easier said than done, and a reunion comes with painful reflections!
The book is set in what many refer to as the golden age of pop music, and fans love the Y2K Nostalgia. Fans are especially excited to see if the film will capture the essence of the book. They expect the film to show the music industry’s dark side as brutally as the book does.

Casting & Production Updates:
Amy Sherman-Palladino is confirmed to write and direct this Universal Pictures adaptation. She has previously worked on Gilmore Girls. She also worked on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, which has won 20 Emmys and countless other accolades over its five-season run.
Jennifer Weiner will serve as an executive producer. She will be joined by Stacey Sher, known for her work in Django Unchained and Erin Brokovich, as a producer.
Lexi Barta, SVP of Production, and the director of production development, Jacqueline Garell, will be the studio’s project managers.

It will be a while before this feature adaptation lands on our big screens. The project was just announced and is in the writing and development phase.
Most major film adaptations take about 18 to 24 months, so we can expect to see this movie in late 2027 or early 2028, if everything goes well and there are no unforeseen circumstances that hinder its development.
