How to Read Tahereh Mafi’s Shatter Me Series in Order (2025)

The main series is finished, but the author has started writing a spin-off series set in the same world, but after the events of the main books!

The Shatter Me Series started in 2011 and officially ended in 2021. It’s a young adult science fiction/dystopian series that follows the story of Juliette Ferrars, a teenage girl with a deadly touch, and her journey as she navigates a world where her powers are both feared and sought after.

It puts her in a difficult situation throughout the events of the series, which also features several interesting characters.

While the series has received mixed reviews, it is still very popular and has earned a place among the best YA fantasy books ever. So, the series is definitely worth a read!

How Many Books Are In The Shatter Me Series?

The Shatter Me series contains a total of 11 books – 6 full-length novels and 5 novellas – and explores themes of power, love, self-discovery, and the fight for freedom and justice in a dystopian society.

Apart from the main series, Shatter Me: The New Republic is the new spin-off series, with one book published and the second coming next year. Currently, we don’t know how many books the author has planned for this follow-up!

Tahereh Mafi has written all these books in order, so there is only one way to read them properly, and that is by publication date.

There are also the Unite Me and Find Me novellas, which are collections. Unite Me contains two novellas, Destroy Me and Fracture Me, while Find Me contains Shadow Me and Reveal Me!

All Shatter Me Books in Order:

1. Shatter Me (2011)

The first book focuses on Juliette, who is afflicted with a strange disease. Anyone she touches dies instantly, and after she accidentally kills someone, the people in charge, called The Reestablishment, lock her up.

Being locked away at the young age of 17 would seem like the end of the world, but Juliette figures it’s better than being out in the world. It’s falling apart at the seams and is dying a little more every day.

However, after things get worse with every passing day, and with a war on the horizon, the Reestablishment decides that Juliette can be useful. They can use her to turn the tide and gain an edge in the impending war.

It leaves Juliette between a rock and a hard place because if she refuses, they will surely kill her, but if she agrees, what will that make her?

2. Destroy Me (2012) – A Novella

In a desperate situation, you will do whatever it takes to survive and ensure your life is no longer at risk. Juliette had no choice but to seduce Warner to escape The Reestablishment, and shooting him was necessary to ensure she could get to freedom.

In this novella, the point of view is focused on Warner. As the leader of Sector 45, he has a great deal of responsibility. To be betrayed by two people under his leadership and seriously injured by Juliette is something he cannot let go of. He needs to make things right and fix his reputation.

This plan is thrown for a loop when his father, the Supreme Commander of the Reestablishment, arrives, and when he learns what he plans to do with Juliette, Warner has a sudden change of heart.

3. Unravel Me (2013)

This book takes us to what happens directly after Juliette escapes The Reestablishment and Warner, who is somehow immune to her touch. It’s the first time it has ever happened, and it scared the crap out of her.

However, for the moment, she is safe after escaping from Warner with Adam. They end up meeting with some rebels who also have powers. It makes Juliette feel like she is finally not alone. While the powers they possess might not be as deadly as hers, they understand what it is like to feel different.

Together with her new group of friends, Juliette must try to make the world livable again and ensure the Reestablishment can no longer wreak havoc on everyone.

4. Fracture Me (2013) – A Novella

The focus in this novella is on Adam, who helped Juliette escape from Warner and the Reestablishment. The two had a thing going for a short time, only to break up eventually. He is devastated by not only the breakup but also everything going on around them.

Their group, Omega Point, is days from attacking a group of Reestablishment Soldiers currently stationed in Sector 45. A war is brewing, and there is no stopping it now. They have all come too far to give up now, even if it could mean the death of everyone Adam knows and lives with.

So, along with the rest of his group, he prepares for the upcoming war. Things seem to be looking up, but Adam knows that Warner and the Reestablishment will do whatever they can to stop them.

5. Ignite Me (2014)

After the events in Fracture Me, Omega Point has been destroyed. The attack on Sector 45 didn’t go as planned, leaving all of them at the mercy of the Reestablishment.

She again finds herself tethered to Warner, wondering desperately if her friends are alive. Had all of this been for nothing? They had planned every little detail and thought they had the upper hand. Juliette and the rest of her rebel friends could not have been any more wrong if they tried.

Juliette now has no choice but to trust Warner. He says he only wants to help her with her powers and with saving the world. She still intends to take down the Reestablishment, but doing so now is going to be a lot trickier.

6. Restore Me (2018)

Juliette Ferrars has been through a lot in her short life. After accidentally killing a man, she finds herself jailed, only to be let out sometime later and used as a weapon by the very people who imprisoned her. Throw in an escape attempt and a failed attack by her rebel group, and life hasn’t been easy.

Now, however, things are looking up. Juliette has been named the new Supreme Commander of North America after taking over Sector 45. She even has Warner by her side. Everything is going well, so when disaster strikes, Juliette should’ve expected it.

There always is a calm before the storm, and now the storm is here to wreak havoc on them all. Juliette has to decide whether to fight or give up completely this time.

7. Shadow Me (2019) – A Novella

In this novella, we go back a bit and look into the point of view of Kenji, who had helped Juliette escape from The Reestablishment. He helped her because he couldn’t bear the thought of them taking advantage of her like that.

Once on the run, Kenji found an even greater weight on his shoulders. He is the current leader of Omega Point, the resistance that wants to take down the Reestablishment. Throw in the fact that Juliette is devastated at how Warner betrayed her, and there is quite a lot for Kenji to deal with.

He wants the resistance to succeed. Not only that, but he also wants his friend’s heart to heal. However, when an unexpected person who was once involved with Omega Point appears, Kenji is thrown into a tailspin.

8. Defy Me (2019)

Juliette thought she had her life figured out. Admittedly, it had been a huge rocky start, to say the least, but after becoming the Supreme Commander of North America, she was determined to do better.

However, being a leader is a difficult thing to do. She wants to help everyone she can, including the children of world leaders who have fled to North America and are seeking assistance.

Immediately, Juliette turns to Warner to express what is happening and what she is feeling. However, when he speaks, he tells her that he knows things about her family and past, which change everything. It goes against what she knew to be the truth.

Hearing Warner tell her this was certainly not what she expected to hear. Now it’s out there, and Juliette can’t forget. She has to figure out the truth of it all, no matter what.

9. Reveal Me (2019) – A Novella

This novella is set during the events of Defy Me, and we are back to Kenji Kishimoto’s point of view. Everything Kenji has ever known is falling apart, including his friends’ lives. The last thing he wants is for something to happen to everyone he cares about.

One person is overly concerned about Juliette. When he needs to speak with her one day, he senses something isn’t right. His friend is suffering, and he has no idea why.

Must she continue to suffer? Juliette has been through so much during her entire life. All Kenji wishes is for her to finally find some happiness, even if that happiness is found with Warner.

10. Imagine Me (2020)

Juliette Ferrars has been through a lot during her life. When she thought she had faced the worst of it, Juliette discovers she is not who she thought she was.

Juliette Ferrars was not born Juliette Ferrars. She was born under a different name and then given away and adopted. The shock of learning her true identity shakes Juliette to her very core. Who is she even? If Juliette had been sure of anything, it was her identity, but that couldn’t be farther from the truth.

Knowing who she is only makes her life more complicated. She needs to face her true path, and someone moves past it to move toward the future. All the while, Juliette needs to make sure she stops the Reestablishment because it’s about time they were taken down a peg or two.

11. Believe Me (2021) – A Novella

After fighting so hard, Juliette finally stopped the Reestablishment from doing any more harm. She didn’t do it alone. She did it with her friends and loved ones, who all worked just as hard, if not more, because they were at it far longer than she was.

With the major threat out of the way, Juliette must try to fix the world and make it better. By her side is Warner. He surprises her one day by proposing marriage, something Juliette eagerly accepts. She’d loved Warner for a long time, and she’d love nothing more than to marry him.

The problem is that planning a wedding takes a lot of time and energy. Juliette has only so much energy to spare for trying to stabilize everything. If she doesn’t, then things might go to hell again. They have just gotten freedom from the Reestablishment, so this is the last thing Juliette or anyone wants.

Somehow, she needs to balance the two things, and she can only hope that Warner will understand why her focus isn’t entirely on the wedding.
