We have good news for fans of romance novels! Emily Henry’s award-winning and readers’ favorite romance novel, Happy Place, is being adapted into a TV series!
The author is a force to be reckoned with in the literary romance genre, as all the books she writes end up becoming big bestsellers, and Happy Place was no different.
It’s not only one of her most-loved novels, but it’s also as popular right now as it was when it was first published. So, it wasn’t surprising when a Happy Place TV series adaptation was announced!
Written by Emily Henry, this book joins a list of most of the author’s novels that are in development to become a movie or TV series.
Talking about Happy Place, it was released on April 25, 2023, to highly positive reviews, and the New York Times recognized it as one of the top books released that year. The novel is loved by critics and audiences alike for its fantastic story and memorable characters.
The book tells the story of a couple who have been in a relationship for eight years but are currently separated. It capitalizes on the second-chance romance, fake dating, and forced proximity trope.
Happy Place is the fifth novel by Emily Henry that is set to hit the big or small screen, as the author has other books like Book Lovers and People We Meet on Vacation that are getting adaptations as well. With the series still in pre-production, there isn’t much information available yet. However, below is all the info currently available that you’d want to know!
What Will Be the Plot of the Happy Place TV Series?
Emily Henry’s Happy Place is about Harriet and Wyn, who appear to be the perfect couple, having been together since college. Even their friends think they are perfect, but they have a secret that they have been keeping; the two have been broken up for six months and haven’t told anyone.
To make matters worse, they are sharing a room at the Maine cottage, which is their friend group’s yearly getaway. They are lying to everyone about still being together, hoping to get through the week without any issues. However, the two still have feelings for each other.
With them sharing a room for a week in the most ultimate romantic setting, how are the two going to manage? And how are they going to keep pretending in front of their friends who have known them for a decade?
If you haven’t read the book yet, which you should do immediately, here’s its official synopsis:
Harriet and Wyn have been the perfect couple since they met in college—they go together like salt and pepper, honey and tea, lobster and rolls. Except, now—for reasons they’re still not discussing—they don’t.
They broke up six months ago. And still haven’t told their best friends.
Which is how they find themselves sharing the largest bedroom at the Maine cottage that has been their friend group’s yearly getaway for the last decade. Their annual respite from the world, where for one vibrant, blue week, they leave behind their daily lives; have copious amounts of cheese, wine, and seafood; and soak up the salty coastal air with the people who understand them most.
Only this year, Harriet and Wyn are lying through their teeth while trying not to notice how desperately they still want each other. Because the cottage is for sale, and this is the last week they’ll all have together in this place. They can’t stand to break their friends’ hearts, and so they’ll play their parts.
Harriet will be the driven surgical resident who never starts a fight, and Wyn will be the laid-back charmer who never lets the cracks show. It’s a flawless plan (if you look at it from a great distance and through a pair of sunscreen-smeared sunglasses). After years of being in love, how hard can it be to fake it for one week in front of those who know you best?
