For those who aren’t aware, the next book in the Amulet series is set to drop in the next few months. The Amulet book series is about a young girl named Emily and her younger brother Navin. In the first volume, we meet Emily and Navin, who have just lost their father in a car accident.
This leaves their mother feeling devastated. As a result of her husband’s death and because of monetary issues, she has to move into a house that used to belong to her great-grandfather.
While there, Emily finds an amulet with a mind of its own. She is forced to accept its powers when her mother is kidnapped and brought to the mysterious world of Alledia.
Throughout the eight-volume series, Emily and her brother meet many characters. There’s the robot Misket, the Elf King’s son named Trellis, who becomes a friend, and finally, the Elf King himself, who wants to take over Alledia. What starts as a journey to rescue her mother turns into a journey to save Alledia.
Once you get into the later volumes, you realize that Emily must also fight to save her own life!
At the moment of writing this, 8 volumes of the Amulet series have been published, with a ninth and final volume on its way!
Is There A Ninth Book in the Amulet Series?
The author of the series, Kazu Kibuishi, announced on April 18, 2023, that the final 9th volume was completed. All that was left was to get the volume ready for print.
As of August 2023, there have been a total of eight books published in the Amulet series. The first book, called The Stonekeeper, was published in January 2008, with volume eight, called Supernova, released in September 2018.
Kibuishi announced that the ninth book in the series would be the final volume. It would tie up Emily and Navin’s story after the cliffhanger at the end of volume eight!
He originally announced the final volume would be out in 2021, only to have the release date pushed back to 2022. It was pushed back a third and final time when he announced it in 2023.
Fans were probably on the edge of their seat waiting to find out just when the final volume of their favorite series would come out!
What is the Amulet Book 9 Called?
The official title of the 9th volume in the Amulet Series will be “Waverider.” If you look at the past titles, you’ll see that the titles tie into part of the plot, so fans should take note of this title.
Like with past books in the series, the 9th Amulet book will be for ages 10 to 15. This isn’t to say that adults can’t read it. Plenty of adults read children or young adults books.
Chances are also significant that the ninth volume will sell many copies, possibly making its way onto the New York Times Best Seller List quite easily.
What is the Amulet Book 9 Release Date?
The official release date for Amulet book 9, “Waverider,” is February 6, 2024. Compared to the release dates of all the other books, Waverider took the longest to create.
There was usually a year to two-year gap between the books. However, after Supernova came out in 2018, this pattern ended.
2020 was the year of the pandemic, so this could have been one of many reasons why the book continued to get pushed back. Kibuishi would give updates over the years, saying he was working on it, but it wasn’t until 2023 that he officially announced that the 9th book was complete.
Is the Amulet Book Series Complete?
The Amulet series is set to conclude with the release of Waverider on February 6, 2024. This shouldn’t be a huge surprise for long-term fans of the Amulet Series.
On Twitter back on October 3, 2014, Kibuishi announced that the series would only have 9 volumes. So, Waverider is the conclusion of the series!
He was very upfront about the fact that the entire series wouldn’t span more than 9 volumes for the past few years. The last volume’s release date got pushed back quite a bit, but at least now the wait is over.
