It’s official! Elsie Silver’s Chestnut Springs TV series is officially in development! This is one of the best news for romance readers out there who have been eagerly waiting to see the author’s work come to life on the screen!

Netflix has reportedly acquired the rights to develop a TV adaptation of the Chestnut Springs novels, Elsie Silver’s steamy, small-town romance series that is well-loved by fans worldwide. The news just came out, and fans can hardly contain their excitement!

This is the second of Elsie Silver’s book series that has been picked up for a TV adaptation. A couple of months ago, the TV adaptation of the author’s Rose Hill series was announced, which is being developed by Amazon MGM Studios. Now, Netflix has acquired the rights to her Chestnut Springs series, which is even more popular among fans than the Rose Hill series.

Elsie Silver has become a name romance readers trust. A Canadian author known for sassy, steamy, small-town romance, she writes characters who are real, flawed, fiery, and unforgettable. She lives just outside Vancouver, British Columbia, and has said that she writes books she herself wants to read, featuring stories with tension, heat, and emotional connection.

Her Chestnut Springs series has five books: Flawless (2022), Heartless (2022), Powerless (2023), Reckless (2023), and Hopeless (2023). Each story stands alone in its romance arc, but carries over recurring characters, settings, and that signature small-town dynamic.

Elsie’s writing style leans heavily into emotional undercurrents—slow burns, forced proximity, wounded heroes, protective family themes, and heroines who balance vulnerability with strength. Her pages often fill with salty language, steamy chemistry, but also the kind of real-life problems, such as insecurities, parental burdens, and financial struggles, that add depth beyond just romance.

Even when the Rose Hill TV series was announced, fans wondered why Chestnut Springs wasn’t picked up first. However, just a few months later, we have good news: Netflix has stepped in to adapt her most beloved series and bring its characters and stories to life.

What Will Be The Plot of the Chestnut Springs TV Series?

Chestnut Springs is a series of sweeping romance stories set in the fictional small town of Chestnut Springs, Wyoming.

Every book centers on a couple—often with one or both characters achieving redemption or healing—and explores themes such as rivalry, protection, family responsibility, and love that develops slowly in imperfect circumstances.

Across the series, recurring characters appear (often as side characters in other books), adding continuity and warmth to the narrative.

The world is steamy and passionate, but also grounded in real emotions, featuring small towns, dirt roads, rodeo rings, family expectations, and financial uncertainty. The romantic tension often comes from complex characters learning to open up, trust, and change for someone else.

I am sure you have read the books, but if you haven’t, here’s the official synopsis of the first book, which will give you an idea of what to expect from the TV adaptation.

Cade Eaton is thirteen years older than Willa Grant, and he barely looks her way, even though she’s living in his house for the summer. That is, until she gets him into the hot tub one night for a game of truth or dare. Then, all bets are off—and so are their clothes.

Cade is gruff, a little rough around the edges, but broad-shouldered ranchers with calloused hands and filthy mouths are this city girl’s kryptonite. So who is she to resist?

But it’s in their quietest moments together that he softens. It’s in the unexpected way he takes care of Willa that she realizes his hardened exterior is just a façade. And it’s when she watches him go all sweet with his little boy that she starts to fall for him, whatever the consequences.

Someone once convinced Cade that his best wasn’t good enough. But Willa has never felt more cherished than she does in his arms.

Her contract says this arrangement is only for two months. But her heart says this is forever!

Casting & Production Updates:

It was just announced that Netflix has acquired the rights to develop the Chestnut Springs series for television. However, there is no confirmed cast, director, writer, or definite production schedule for the project yet.

What we do know is that Hannah Schneider is attached to adapt the series for the screen, and Shawn Levy will executive produce, according to Variety.

As the days pass and production begins in earnest, we will have more news about who’s in charge behind the scenes and who will bring our favorite characters to life on screen!

Chestnut Springs TV Series Release Date:

As of now, there is no confirmed release date for the TV adaptation. Netflix has only announced that the Chestnut Springs novels are being developed into a series.

As the project is still in its early stages of development, filming schedules and cast announcements are likely to be announced later in 2025 or beyond.

If the production proceeds smoothly without any issues, we can expect the TV series to be released on Netflix by the end of 2026. However, that’s just wishful thinking, because things can go either way when books are adapted to the screen.

Should You Read the Book Series Instead?

Just like the Rose Hill books, Elsie Silver’s Chestnut Springs series is fantastic, and if you are a fan of the romance genre, then yes, you should definitely read the books.

The books give you the internal thoughts, the messy moments, and the heat dips and turns the author is known for, something that adaptations sometimes streamline.

Since the series covers multiple distinct romances with overlapping side characters, reading the books allows you to connect threads across stories, including spotting cameos, building empathy, and fully appreciating the arcs.

Also, if you enjoy steamy small-town romance with mature themes (age gaps, forced proximity, protective love, redemption arcs), the books deliver more explicitly than a typical TV adaptation might.

Reading now not only satisfies your cravings sooner, but it might also make the TV experience richer, allowing you to explore what you love and compare how it brings it to life.

Since this is a book series, you should read the first book and decide if it is worth your time. Chances are that you will devour the entire series and be ready for the release of the Chestnut Springs TV series adaptation!
