Peacock has released the first teaser trailer and official first-look images for the TV adaptation of The Good Daughter, based on Karin Slaughter’s novel, confirming its full premiere date and introducing us to the world of Charlotte and Samantha Quinn for the first time.

All six episodes land on November 12, 2026, and based on what the trailer reveals, this is one of the most anticipated prestige thrillers of the fall.

What Is The Good Daughter About?

The official description from Peacock places the emotional architecture of the story front and center:

The Good Daughter is a suspenseful thriller wrapped in a deeply emotional story about love, family, and resilience. Sisters Charlotte and Samantha Quinn have spent the last 20 years trying to piece together the lives that were fractured by a single night of violence. When another attack splinters the small town of Pikeville, Charlotte—now a lawyer like her father—is the first witness on the scene. As the case unfolds and twists through painful memories and buried secrets, what emerges is not just a story of survival, but of enduring ties between a father and his daughters, and the complex bond between sisters.

The novel, published in 2017, is a standalone. No prior knowledge of the Grant County or Will Trent series required. Two sisters, one devastating night in their past, and a new crime in their small Georgia town that drags everything they survived back to the surface.

Slaughter herself described what the series means to her in terms that get right to the heart of it:

“The Good Daughter is a story of love, family, and the unbreakable bond between two resilient, funny, difficult sisters.”

The Good Daughter TV Series Cast:

The awards pedigree assembled in front of the camera is genuinely extraordinary, and the November 12 premiere date lands squarely in the 2027 Emmy eligibility window, which feels very intentional.

Rose Byrne plays Samantha Quinn. Byrne is coming off a year that included a Golden Globe win for If I Had Legs I’d Kick You alongside her first Oscar nomination and her first Tony nomination for the Broadway revival of Fallen Angels.

She is a two-time Emmy nominee for Damages. Watching her step into the role of a woman still carrying two decades of fractured family history is precisely the kind of performance that awards bodies tend to reward.

Meghann Fahy plays Charlotte. Fahy is a two-time Emmy nominee herself. She was nominated for The White Lotus Season 2 and for Netflix’s Sirens in 2025.

Charlotte plays the sister who stayed, the one who became a lawyer like her father, who built her life in Pikeville, and who is first on the scene when the new attack happens. She is the one for whom the past has never truly been the past.

Brendan Gleeson plays the Quinn patriarch, Olivia Williams plays their mother Harriet, and Michael Dorman rounds out the adult cast alongside younger actors portraying Charlotte and Sam as children.

The reunion of Byrne and Fahy as two Emmy-caliber actresses playing sisters in a prestige limited series is the kind of casting that makes the hair stand up on your arms before you’ve seen a single scene.

Depending on how Peacock submits them, the two could end up competing against each other for Best Limited Actress, which would be a remarkable outcome for a show about sisters who can’t stop competing with each other even when they’re on the same side.

Who Is Karin Slaughter?

Karin Slaughter has been one of the most consistently excellent crime writers in the world for over two decades—and she is, finally, getting the screen adaptation attention her work has long deserved.

Her debut novel, Blindsighted, arrived in 2001, introduced the fictional Grant County and launched a six-book series featuring pediatrician and part-time coroner Sara Linton.

The screen is catching up with her. Pieces of Her became a Netflix limited series. Will Trent is a running ABC series. And now The Good Daughter is coming to Peacock—with Slaughter writing every episode.

That last detail matters enormously. Slaughter’s relationship with her own material is not passive. She is the showrunner. She wrote all six episodes. The person who invented Charlotte and Samantha Quinn is translating their story to the screen.

The Creative Team

Director Steph Green helms all six episodes, matching the creative consistency Slaughter’s single-writer approach demands. Green’s credits include Watchmen and Bad Sisters, two of the most critically acclaimed limited series of recent years. Her instinct for building atmosphere, unease, and female-centered drama in contained, pressurized formats is exactly what The Good Daughter needs.

Made Up Stories produces the series in partnership with global studio Fifth Season. Bruna Papandrea’s Made Up Stories has a track record that makes this an immediately reassuring producing attachment. The company is behind The Undoing, Pieces of Her, and Wolf Like Me, among others. Byrne also executive produces, joining Slaughter, Papandrea, Steve Hutensky, and Casey Haver.

The Good Daughter premieres November 12 on Peacock.
