Fans of Seeking Persephone have been absolutely buzzing since the four-episode series dropped on Prime Video back in March. Now, the news we’ve all been hoping for has officially arrived. The Duke of Kielder is not done with us yet, and we’re so happy about that.
Sarah M. Eden and actor Jake Stormoen, the man behind the brooding, grumpy, secretly wonderful Duke of Kielder, took to Instagram to announce that Seasons 2 and 3 of the series are officially in the works, adapting the next two books in the Lancaster Family series: Courting Miss Lancaster and Romancing Daphne.
Stormoen’s message to fans said it all:
“You haven’t seen the last of the Lancasters or The Duke of Kielder just yet.”
The Duke will be returning as a recurring character across the upcoming seasons, which, if you’ve read the books, makes complete sense. Adam Boyce may have had his happy ending with Persephone, but the Lancaster family’s romantic dramas are far from over, and he is very much in the middle of all of them.
About Seeking Persephone and How the Series Came to Be
Development began in 2023 when Utah-based filmmaker John Lyde, who served as director and producer, collaborated with Eden to adapt her 2008 Regency romance novel into a television format.
Inspired by the novel’s strong storyline and his appreciation for period dramas like the 2005 Pride & Prejudice, Lyde initiated the project and crowdfunded over $200,000 to support production.
Eden adapted the screenplay from her own novel and was actively involved in the production, frequently updating fans via social media. This hands-on involvement is rare, and it’s exactly why the series landed so well with readers.
The four-episode limited series follows the intertwined destinies of brooding, scarred Duke Adam Boyce and young, pragmatic Persephone Lancaster, joined in a marriage of convenience that proves to be plenty fraught.
It is essentially a Beauty and the Beast retelling set in Regency England, with all the slow-burn longing and eventual warmth that premise promises at its best.
The response from viewers has been genuinely enthusiastic. IMDB reviewers have compared it favorably to the 2005 Pride & Prejudice as a comfort watch, with one calling it “absolute perfection—from casting, to scenery, to the script.”
The series is currently available on Prime Video, Angel Studios, and Peacock in select regions.
Season 2: Courting Miss Lancaster
The second book in the Lancaster Family series shifts focus from Persephone to her sister Athena, and brings one of the most quietly lovable heroes Eden has ever written to the center of the story.
Harry Windover is a penniless man hopelessly in love with Athena Lancaster, the green-eyed beauty of the family. Having no hope of winning her given his station in life, he finds himself in an impossible position when the Duke of Kielder, now Athena’s guardian and brother-in-law, asks him to help find her a suitable husband.
Harry’s solution is quietly hilarious and quietly heartbreaking in equal measure. His plan is to parade a string of dreadful suitors in front of her, funny on the surface and quietly devastating underneath, as he risks everything to give her the choice he thinks she deserves.
Season 3: Romancing Daphne
The third book moves to Daphne Lancaster—the quietest, most overlooked of the sisters—and gives her a story that is both the most emotionally complex and the most romantically satisfying of the three.
Daphne is introverted and self-conscious as her debut London Season approaches, fearing she lacks the beauty and social ease of her sisters despite her family’s influential connections. She is the kind of heroine readers tend to fall for hardest, because she is so easy to recognize.
A reappearance from a kind man who once made her feel seen seems like a miracle until hidden motives and greed tangle their courtship.
James Tilburn wants to court her, and Daphne is over the moon, but the couple would soon find themselves caught in a web of deceit and greed, and must determine whether they are willing to risk everything for love.
What the Author Is Promising?
Eden’s own statement about the upcoming seasons has fans especially excited, not just because more story is coming, but because the creative setup guarantees a faithful adaptation.
The fact that Eden herself wrote the screenplay for Seeking Persephone and will do the same for Seasons 2 and 3 is the clearest possible assurance that these adaptations will honor the books.
No details about production timelines, cast additions, or release windows have been announced yet, but given the crowdfunded, community-driven spirit of this entire project, fans will likely be kept closely in the loop as things develop.
The Lancaster Family Is Just Getting Started
The Lancaster Family series has five full novels and a holiday novella, which means even beyond Seasons 2 and 3, there is plenty of story left for this adaptation to tell. Loving Lieutenant Lancaster, Charming Artemis, and Christmas at Falstone Castle are all still waiting in the wings.
If you haven’t read the books yet, now is absolutely the time to start. Begin with Seeking Persephone, or watch the series first, then read it, then fall immediately into Courting Miss Lancaster and Romancing Daphne.
Either order works. What matters is that by the time Athena and Harry’s story arrives on screen, you’ll already know exactly how wonderfully it ends.
