Summary of Maybe Someday Series:
The Maybe Someday series tells the story of several young individuals struggling with romance and trying to find their way in the world.
The story of Sydney and her neighbor Ridge is the focus of the first book. He is first her neighbor, but given she has just broken up with a cheating boyfriend, it’s understandable she is nervous about jumping head first into something.
The novella focuses on Warren and his new roommate Bridgette, who is as cold as ice. However, this doesn’t stop him from trying to melt her heart. In the third and final book in the Maybe Someday series, we learn what will happen between these two couples.
There are a lot of tropes at play in the Maybe Someday Series. Most of them fall under romance tropes which include neighbors to lovers in the case of Sydney and Ridge and friends to lovers with Warren and Bridgette. It also has college-aged characters, so you can throw in this trope as well.
How Many Books Are in the Maybe Someday Series?
In the Maybe Someday Series, we have two books and one novella. They were published in the following order:
- Maybe Someday, published in 2014
- Maybe Not: A Novella, published in 2014.
- Maybe Now, published in 2018
These books can be read in order of publication. It’s the correct order to follow the plot from beginning to end without missing anything. Maybe Someday Series Characters & Age Rating:
Maybe Someday features quite a cast of characters in only three books. First, there is Sydney, who wants nothing more than to move on from her cheating boyfriend. Even after she gets with Ridge, everything is not all butterflies and unicorns. Ridge initially seems to only care about his guitar, but eventually, Sydney worms her way into his heart.
Warren is roommates with Bridgette, a woman who is cold and keeps to herself. They both do not particularly have a good relationship with each other, though Warren makes it a point to try to melt that ice around her heart. Finally, there is Maggie, who is friends with Ridge and suffering from a serious illness.
Because of the situations in this book, it is recommended that those who are 17 and up read this book series. There are adult situations and issues that people younger than 17 should not be exposed to. Anyone over 17 years old is more than mature enough to read it!
Maybe Someday Series in Order of Release Date:
1. Maybe Someday (2014)
Meet 22-year-old college student Sydney who thought her life was going great until she came home one day to find out that her long-term boyfriend Hunter was cheating on her. To say she was devastated is an understatement. She believed that her future was with Hunter, so the fact that he hurt her so badly is unbelievable.
She tries to move on with her life but then starts growing interested in Ridge, the man who lives next door. He’s an incredibly attractive man as well as a great musician. The last person Sydney expected to catch feelings for was the guy next door, but here she is. Trying to deny it won’t work because the more time that goes on, the more she is attracted to him.
What will end up becoming Ridge and Sydney’s relationship? Will he break her heart as Hunter did when he cheated on her?
2. Maybe Not (2014)
Maybe Not is a novella released between the two main books in this series. This book focuses on Bridgette and Warren. Bridgette is a no-nonsense woman who keeps a wall between her and the rest of the world. It’s safer this way because it keeps her from getting hurt.
When she first becomes roommates with Warren, he is thrilled because living with a female roommate is not something he’s ever experienced. However, she is far from warm and inviting. Instead, Bridgette is cruel, and whenever they interact, they both end up getting angry.
Despite this, Warren wonders what is up with Bridgette. There must be a reason she puts so many walls up between her and the world. Somehow Warren will try to break them down and figure out if there truly is a heart beneath all that ice. Only time will tell if Warren will succeed in his goal or will crash and burn!
3. Maybe Now (2018)
Maybe Now is the direct sequel to Maybe Someday and Maybe Not. The focus is back on Ridge and Sidney, who are now dating. Warren and Bridgette are also dating, but their relationship is much rockier than Ridge and Sydney, who seems to have everything figured out.
There also is Maggie, a young woman who isn’t in a relationship. She’s currently extremely ill and trying to come to terms with that, so it’s not like she has the energy to be in one anyway.
Ridge and Maggie happen to be friends. When Maggie decides to complete what seems like a bucket list, Ridge is more than a little concerned. Why wouldn’t he be? His sick friend is going out there, determined to complete her list before it’s too late.
Sydney doesn’t want to be jealous of their friendship, but she is. They seem a little too close for comfort, which makes her think something more is going on. It’s not, but jealousy is a hell of a thing to try to get over… and what happens if she can’t?
